Politics Daily takes a courageous step away from the late breaking mentality of the web to focus purely on "old school journalism" to provide thoughtful political insights, news and opinion. The strategy has paid off. In its first 3 months, Politics Daily carved out a large enough audience to become the number one political site on the web.
The design delivers on the brand's difference with a very archival print feel. To elevate the perception of the site beyond another trendy "blog" I designed this user interface which splits the latest post section into 3 columns. The format both adds more to the main page and is more reflective of the dynamic and high energy conventional news print format . The design was a breakthrough for AOL with many sites soon following the same format.
